Pisgah Rage is Asheville's youth mountain bike team — There are no tryouts, no bench, no one left out
Founded in 2017 with just five riders, Pisgah Rage has grown into a nearly 100-athlete team of 5th–12th graders from public, private, charter, and homeschool families across Buncombe County.
We're a composite team in the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). There are no tryouts, no bench and no one left out because of cost — every kid who shows up gets to ride, improve, and belong. We meet riders exactly where they are, whether they've never touched a trail or they're chasing the podium.

Mountain biking has historically been a boys' club. Through NICA's GRiT program and our own female coaches, we're rewriting that story, giving girls a place to lead, take risks, and discover what they're capable of.Closing the gap on access
That same commitment drives where we're growing next. Registration fees, bikes, helmets, and gear are real barriers for many families, and we're just as committed to closing the gap on ethnic and economic diversity as we are on gender. Your sponsorship funds need-based scholarships, a loaner-bike fleet, and outreach that puts kids on trails who'd otherwise be left out, helping deliver on a goal NICA names as central to its mission.
